  • Work-study students can complete 110 hours each semester.
  • Students cannot complete more than 20 hours in one week (Sunday–Saturday).

    Job Description: Student tutor will perform one-on-one work with individual students or small groups in reading and/or math, review students' work, help with homework, and be a mentor and positive role model. The position involves collaboration with local elementary school principals, teachers, and/or after-school program coordinators. This position has a higher pay to account for travel. Applicants MUST personally have a car on campus (not a roommate's car). Applicants should be excellent communicators, respectful, patient, dependable, and enjoy working with children. Education majors are preferred, but not required.

    Peer Tutor/Office Assistant

    Job Description: Peer Tutors will provide academic support to students through individual and group tutoring sessions, helping them strengthen their understanding of course material and develop effective study habits by providing tutoring during scheduled shifts through appointments or walk-ins; keeping accurate records of all tutoring sessions using the Tutor Log Sheet; maintaining professionalism in behavior, dress, and communication; arriving on time and remaining engaged throughout the shift; completing and submitting time sheets on schedule; collaborating with the Coordinator of Peer Tutoring to manage scheduling; attending all training sessions and staff meetings; following and modeling Burton Center policies; maintaining confidentiality of student information; sharing effective study and learning strategies with students; staying informed about campus academic support resources; using best practices in tutoring and mentoring; focusing on your own academic work when not actively tutoring, but pausing personal work to assist students as needed. This position requires strong communication skills, academic integrity, and a commitment to supporting student success. The primary office assistant function is to assist Burton Center faculty and staff with office work, copying, errands, and other essential tasks.

    Job Description: The Costume Shop Assistant works closely with the shop supervisor and costume designer to maintain the costume collection (refiling, cleaning, organizing), and helps build and pull costumes for our department’s productions. Basic skills include hand and machine sewing, reading and cutting out patterns for costumes, working backstage during a production possibly as a dresser, helping take and catalogue measurement forms for all productions, helping with laundry during and after productions, and any other duties assigned during the creation and maintenance of the costumes for a production according to their talents and skills. These duties may require evening, night and weekend working hours depending on the production schedule.

    Job Description: The Outdoor Recreation Management Office Assistant will complete administrative tasks including renting, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning outdoor gear. Responsible for creating exceptional outdoor equipment room organization, operation, and cleanliness. Maintain equipment and supplies inventory and coordinate with faculty for ordering. Participate in trip planning, including management of gear/food pack out, course transports, and logistical course functions. Work directly with faculty to plan and assist course logistical functions. Assist with special events including but not limited to: films, workshops, clinics, Open Houses, etc. Needs to be proficient with Excel and tracking systems. Able to carry and load/unload weight up to 50 lbs. Job also requires motivation to learn many aspects of Outdoor Recreation Management and the local area, written and verbal communication skills.

    Job Description: The Student Affairs Assistant will greet and assist students, visitors, and campus partners at the Student Affairs front desk. Assist with tracking student participation and engagement data. Promote upcoming events through social media, flyers, and peer outreach. Help manage supply inventory and set up events and meetings. Serve as a positive representative of the Student Affairs office and uphold campus policies. Provide input on student needs and help foster a welcoming, inclusive campus environment. Support the planning and execution of campus programs, events, and student activities. Student should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be dependable, organized, and able to manage time effectively, experience in or enthusiasm for student leadership and event planning, familiarity with campus resources and student involvement opportunities, with basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, social media).
