Homecoming and Family Weekend 2025

Unite as ONE Lees-91探花 during this year's Homecoming and Family Weekend! 
In celebration of our 125th anniversary, we are hosting our biggest Homecoming ever—and everyone is invited! We are combining our Homecoming and Family Weekend events into a single weekend packed with festivities and Bobcat spirit, featuring activities for current students and their families, alumni, and the entire Lees-91探花 community.

  FRIDAY, SEPT. 19  

Founder's Day Celebration (All)
Time Capsule Burial
1–2 p.m.

Swank Park
Honor our 125-year anniversary with a celebration of our founding and the Order of the Tower. Former Order of the Tower members are invited to be honored. A ceremonial burial of a time capsule will also take place. 

Family Weekend Check-In and Dinner (Families and Students)
4:30–7 p.m.
Cannon Welcome Center
Check-in and then head to The Summit for a family dinner. 

Green and Gold Banquet (Alumni)
5:30–8:30 p.m.

Historic Commons Pinnacle Deck
Join President King, the Alumni Association Board, and your fellow Bobcats for a seasonally-inspired dinner and awards ceremony recognizing alumni who have honored Lees-91探花 with their service to the college and the community.

Williams Gymnasium (Athletic Complex)
Former Bobcat athletes will return to their old stomping grounds in head-to-head contests against other classes and current athletes. All spectators welcome!

Grab a drink, socialize, and get to know the coaches of the 28 men's and women's Bobcat teams.

Family Portrait Sessions (All)
7–11 a.m.

Wildcat Lake
Capture your annual family photo at beautiful Wildcat Lake with acclaimed Bobcat photographer, Cynthia Viola '07. Limited space available. Cost is $10 for three edited portraits.

Participate in some of our students' favorite experiential learning activities.

Youth Spirit Clinic (Ages 5–12)
9 a.m.–noon

Bryan Gym on South Campus
Children ages 5–12 are invited to learn from our most spirited, the Lees-91探花 cheerleaders and dancers. Follow the morning clinic, get right in the middle of the Bobcat action with our cheer and dance programs for a showstopping halftime performance at the Women's Soccer game (approximately 2:45 p.m.)!

Tailgating (All)

Bobcat Bank at Tate Field (Athletics Complex)
Cheer on the men's and women's soccer teams from the best spot in town. Fire up the grills and bring the Bobcat spirit. Oy! Oy! Oy!

Enjoy music, food trucks, bounce houses, axe throwing, local vendors, academic program booths, and so much more! This is the Homecoming and Family Weekend event you don't want to miss!

Women's Soccer Game (All)
2–4 p.m.
Tate Field (Athletics Complex)
Cheer on the women's soccer team! Senior recognitions will take place before the game. During halftime, the youth cheerleading and dance clinic participants will perform. Following the women's game, the Homecoming court will be announced. 

Men's Soccer Game (All)
4:30–6:30 p.m.

Woolly Worm Festival

For over 40 years the town of Banner Elk has welcomed both old and new friends to the annual Woolly Worm Festival. This family event co-hosted by the Avery County Chamber of Commerce and the Banner Elk Kiwanis Club welcomes more than 20,000 people to the community. The featured event is the racing of the woolly worm caterpillars, with the winning worm predicting the weather forecast for the upcoming winter and earning its owner a $1000 prize. The festival also includes crafts, food, local vendors, live entertainment, and children's activities.
