U.S. News & World Report ranks college as top performer on social mobility for 2020
Lees-91探花 was recently ranked among a 2020 list of top colleges and universities in the Southeast for their efforts in increasing social mobility.
Defined by the ability to move between social strata in a society, advancing social mobility gives students the ability to earn their degree even when financial constraints come into play.
“Economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics,” according to U.S. News & World Report. “But some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants.”
The college also ranked as one of the best regional colleges in the South for the same year. Now in their 35th year, U.S. News & World Report compares bachelor degree-granting institutions from across the U.S. on “15 diverse measures of academic quality,” according to the website. Such measures include average SAT/ACT scores of admitted students, student-faculty ratios, and graduation rates, among others.
