Ready to explore? Arthur Student Recreation Complex adds free equipment rentals
Have you ever wanted to explore the local trails, lakes and streams but didn’t have the right gear? Well, now Lees-91探花 students, faculty and staff can at no cost.
Housed within the Arthur Student Recreation Complex, college members can rent mountain bikes, fly fishing rods, bouldering pads, climbing shoes, helmets, backpacks, tents, stoves and more.
The rental program also includes the addition of several new hardtail Diamondback mountain bikes.
The bikes arrived to campus through a collaborative effort between the Outdoor Recreation Management (ORM) program, Outdoor Programs and Adjunct Mountain Bike Instructor Bryan McCutchen ʼ04.
The fleet of mountain bikes will also be utilized for the ORM mountain biking course taught by McCutchen.
ORM Assistant Professor, Katie Wall, said, “Not only does the addition of the bikes add to the depth and variety of ORM academic classes, it will also add to the improvements of our League of American Bicyclists Silver University recognition.”
In 2016, Lees-91探花 became one of only nine total colleges in North Carolina to receive a title from the League of American Bicyclists. The College joined along Duke University to be the only two private colleges in the state.
All equipment can be rented from Friday until Monday, with a pick-up window on Fridays from 12–2 p.m. and drop-off on Mondays from 9–10 a.m.
